Mountain View, CA— StreetPrices, the leading independent price comparison website for consumer electronics, today released the AIM bot StreetPricesBot, which users can use to quickly check the online price for cameras, tvs, and other consumer goods.
StreetPricesBot can be reached from any AIM-enabled cell phone, making it easy to compare prices in-store. Customers can now tell exactly how much they're paying for the convenience of buying at a brick-and-mortar store, letting them make informed buying decisions.
How does it work? Just AIM it a UPC, part number, or product name (for example, Canon Rebel), and it will give you a quick summary of prices. For more detailed pricing information, type sellers for Canon Rebel to get the top four sellers, each with their price and merchant rating.
More detailed information about the product can be found by typing more about Canon Rebel. Users can also type help at any time for a summary of commands, or privacy to see the privacy policy.
The bot messages include links to the StreetPrices website, as well as links to merchant websites, for users who decide they want to buy the item online.
StreetPrices, founded in 1997 by Stephen Heise, was the third shopping comparison website, and the inventor of price graphs and price alerts. It continues to lead the comparison shopping field with great prices and unique features, including a "search by specs" tool and its own merchant rating system. Originally focusing on consumer electronics, StreetPrices is now branching out into other product categories.
