For immediate release
Mountain View, CA— StreetPrices released a faster, more powerful version of its Search Tree today, which lets users explore the rich network of interrelated categories that match their search. With its new speedier response time, it takes shoppers only moments to drill down to the products they want.
The new Search Tree is shown at the top of all search results. For example, a user looking for cow-themed gifts can search for "cow", and immediately see what kinds of cow-themed products are available. They can narrow their search to watches or puppets or kitchenware with a single click, making for a fast, easy online shopping experience.
Once users have chosen a category, they have the option of seeing all products in that category, not just the products that match their query. For example, if the user chooses the "Hand Puppets" category, and then realizes that hand puppets might make an even better gift, she can see all hand puppets with a single click.
StreetPrices was the first web site to show results in search-tree format, with its original release in November 2001. This original results tree was a nice way of displaying the matching categories for a query. The new Search Tree is faster, lets you use the tree to refine your query, and understands powerful filters like manufacturer and price range. The StreetPrices Search Tree, which makes it easy to distinguish between Halloween bats and baseball bats, is still unique today.
StreetPrices, founded in 1997 by Stephen Heise, was the third shopping comparison website, and the inventor of price graphs and price alerts. It continues to lead the comparison shopping field with great prices and unique features, including a "search by specs" tool and its own merchant rating system. Originally focusing on consumer electronics, StreetPrices is now branching out into other product categories.
